Imperial Crane donated a Terex T-340 40 ton crane to assemble component parts for the replica of the train that carried President Abraham Lincoln’s body to Illinois following his assassination in 1865. The Lincoln Funeral Train was on exhibit for four days in October at the Indian Welcome Center in Hammond, Indiana. A replica Civil War-period steam engine and tender was also part of the exhibit.
Nearly 8,000 people visited this replica that was on display at the Welcome Center. The replica was built by Dave Kloke of Elgin, Illinois. This replica train car has been attracting visitors through various stops throughout the country. A future home for this recreated funeral car is being discussed.
